  9.        Ladies and Gentlemen, thank you very much for attending this
  10.    software evening, it is nice to see so many people interested in
  11.    developing software on the Amiga.  Amiga Technologies began as a
  12.    production company in May 1995.
  13.    
  14.        Its goal was then to ramp up the production of Amiga computers to
  15.    bring them back onto the market.  We have done it.  Then, as soon as the
  16.    products were available, Amiga Technologies evolved to a computer sales
  17.    company to distribute its products world-wide.  We had to meet the
  18.    demand that has been waiting for more than one year.  We have done it.
  19.    
  20.        Now, Amiga is turning into a true Computer manufacturer, we are
  21.    finally building up our Research and Development team in Bensheim.  We
  22.    are hiring former Commodore engineers as well as new talented people to
  23.    be able to respect the announced schedules for the Power Amiga.  Lets do
  24.    it!
  25.    
  26.        Ladies and Gentlemen, we want to show our commitment to the Amiga
  27.    platform, not as a quick money maker for the Christmas season, but as
  28.    one of the most important strategic challenges in the ESCOM group.
  29.    Amiga shall become the best platform for Multimedia, 3D software,
  30.    graphics processing, Internet and many more applications.
  31.    
  32.        The software market is always looking for powerful platforms.
  33.    Especially 3D software needs great amounts of MIPS.  This is going to be
  34.    addressed first with the 060 board that we will market in early 96.
  35.    Then, in 1st quarter 97, the Power PC 604 will replace the 060 in the
  36.    new high-end model.  Of course, the operating system will have to be
  37.    ported to the new RISC-Processor.  This will be done internally at Amiga
  38.    Technologies by our R&D department.
  39.    
  40.        In the meantime, there will also be new products based on the A1200
  41.    concept.  We plan to present the A1200 + in May.  This model will
  42.    feature either the Coldfire processor from Motorola, or the 68030 at 40
  43.    MHz.  SIMM sockets will be integrated directly on the motherboard to
  44.    allow easy memory expansion.  The A1200 + is scheduled for the CEBIT in
  45.    March 96.

  47.        Another product will be the black box.  This is a set top box that
  48.    will feature an enhanced A1200 core, along with all connectors needed
  49.    for communication, printing, audio in and out and a remote control.  It
  50.    will have a HI-FI-like design that will be created by Frog design.  The
  51.    product will of course be equipped with a CD ROM drive and a floppy disk
  52.    drive.

  54.        We are also making an Internet package with all software needed to
  55.    become an unbeatable surfer.  These networking features are planned to
  56.    be part of the OS in a near future.  It will first be marketed as a
  57.    complete package including modem and cables, with the software
  58.    preinstalled on the harddrive.  A plug and play solution.
  59.    
  60.        We also plan the Q-Drive to be available shortly after the fair.
  61.    This quad speed CD ROM drive plugs into the PCMCIA connector and is
  62.    provided with software to enable it to play CD 32 titles.

  64.        Ladies and Gentlemen, as you can see, the Amiga family will become
  65.    larger very soon.  To welcome these products that will without doubt be
  66.    very successful on the market, we want to encourage you to produce
  67.    software for them.

  69.        We now have a developer support set up and running.  Let me tell you
  70.    a few words about its organisation.  There will be a secured section on
  71.    the WEB server, only accessible to registered developers.  The address
  72.    of the WEB server is www.amiga.de
  73.    
  74.        We will have two types of developers:
  75.    
  76.        Non-commercial and commercial developers.  To become a
  77.    non-commercial developer, the candidate has to show an existing program
  78.    or product, even public domain.  The annual fee is 100 USD.  For
  79.    becoming a commercial developer, one has to provide proof of a
  80.    commercial product, either completed or in advanced stage of
  81.    development.

  83.        The fee for becoming a commercial developer is 300 USD a year.
  84.    Former registered Commodore developers will have to register again with
  85.    Amiga Technologies.  This is necessary for us because we do not have the
  86.    complete Commodore developer database and also because an Amiga
  87.    Technologies NDA has to be signed.  All developers will also have access
  88.    to the beta versions of the AMIGA OS for testing purposes, they will
  89.    have access to development tools, to hardware documentation and to our
  90.    restricted newsgroups.

  92.        Developers will also have special purchase conditions on Amiga
  93.    hardware.  There will also be a periodical newsletter.

  95.        The support for developers will be accessible from the Internet and
  96.    through a closed network as in former Commodore times.  If you have
  97.    further questions about software support, you are welcome to ask after
  98.    the session.  We know that there are many people who are convinced that
  99.    Amiga is the best system and those people believe in the Amiga platform
  100.    as well as we do.

  102.        This, Ladies and Gentlemen is very encouraging for us.  I believe
  103.    that most of the people attending here are Amiga enthusiastic and am
  104.    glad to see such a strong commitment.

  106.        There is one thing I would like to tell you:  write software for the
  107.    Amiga, Amiga will help you to do this.
  108.    
  109.        We managed to revive the Amiga hardware.  Now it's to you, together
  110.    with us, to revive its software.  Negotiations with many software houses
  111.    world-wide have started.  Our common goal should be to strengthen the
  112.    Amiga software platform for the future.  Please take this message:
  113.    Amiga is working tightly together with hardware companies to get new
  114.    extensions, license our technology and create new exciting products.

  116.        We are motivated by the success we had with our current models and
  117.    look forward to bring you new products very soon.
